Pardon the radio silence, but I'm enjoying a well-deserved quiet (lazy) weekend after a particularly stressful week. Here are a couple of the libations the hubby picked up at Handy Mart in Burbank (mind you, I'm no connoisseur, I just like a good beer every now and again and I don't mind trying something new).
The seasonal Dogfish Head Punkin Ale piqued my curiosity simply because of my love for all things fall. It definitely had notes of pumpkin but not overwhelmingly so. It wasn't bad nor especially great (I love pumpkin flavor but not sure if I like it in my beer). Just not something I'd care to try again. The tatted lady label on this year's bottle designed by Rich Kelly is super cute though.
We tried Small Town Brewery's Not Your Father's Root Beer as a dessert in the form of a grown up root beer float. The ale quite is smooth and sweet (not at all beer-like IMO) enough to be dessert-like on its own. Although tasty, what seemed like a good idea in theory and aesthetically, turned out not so easy on the old tummy. Next time we'll hold the ice cream.
What are your favorite brews?
